Kia ora! I’m Gil (He/They), Stranger At Home’s very own foul-mouthed Aussie expatriate. I moved to Te Whanganui-a-Tara to study Creative Writing, English Lit and History with a strong decolonial focus and I’m mostly interested in stories—national narratives, community yarns and individual tales that make up the big Who We Are. What do the stories we tell say about us as a country? Whose stories get told? And what does it mean to be homesick wherever you go?
Do we answer these questions in a satisfactory way? Probably not. But do I have a blast yarning with awesome guests and giving Alex endless shit? Hell fuck yeah.
